Nick Ball vs Sam Goodman: August 16th
Sam Goodman is a pest. He persistently advances, prepared to absorb a blow to deliver a powerful one. Avoid letting him corner you on the ropes; it's not a good idea. Remaining stagnant and unprepared will result in him punishing you. To manage his energy, he prefers to jab at his opponents, prompting them to react so he can follow up with his right hand.
While Sam Goodman is a pest and aggressively reckless, Nick Ball is a lot more calculating. Despite being a short featherweight at 5 feet 2 inches, Nick Ball's deceptively quick hands and quick feet allow him to reach further than his advertised height. Because of his quick feet and hands, he is able to move inside and hurt his opponents. He lunges at times to hit his opponent, but he does keep his hands up fairly well, which allows him to block punches. This vulnerability could be problematic because it exposes his body to counter punches. Several counter punches have inflicted damage on him throughout his career. That's where Sam Goodman can capitalize and try to weaken him over the rounds. If he can land enough punches to the body, Nick Ball will become more prone to making mistakes. At least, that's the idea. However, achieving this goal will not be easy.
Sam Goodman is taller than Nick Ball, but he's actually the one moving up in weight to challenge for a title. The power difference between the two fighters could play a role, as we need to determine if Sam Goodman can withstand punches from a natural featherweight. If not, it could be a quick night.
While Sam Goodman is a formidable opponent, Nick Ball has the potential to overcome him. Nick Ball will likely win and raise his hands at the end of the 12th round.
